Your Autumn Doodle cowl is so lovely! Is it difficult to knit? I'm very much a newbie with colorwork knitting. I agree Autumn is a gorgeous season and you given some wonderful suggestions on what to try out.
Thanks Jodie! 🧡 I’d say this pattern isn’t difficult but it isn’t the simplest for your first color work project. You’ll be fine if you’re willing to be a bit ambitious 😊.
It is designed with charts that let you choose what sequence you’ll knit the designs in. I’d recommend sticking with charts that use 2 colors when starting out. There are only a couple of charts that use 3 colors, but it does increase the complexity to work with more colors in the same chart. You could omit the 3 color charts or knit them later in the project once you’ve got the hang of color work.
Thanks so much Melissa for your tips. Starting off with 2 color charts sounds like something I could do. I just love the look of colorwork and hope to tackle more of these kinds of projects some day. :)
You can absolutely do it! The wonderful thing about yarn is that it is so easy to rip out and redo when needed (and we all need to do that at times, mistakes are inevitable!). Give me a shout if you do start a color work project and run into any questions 💙
So true, and thank you for the encouragement! Seems like I'll need to practice on some scrap yarn first. That's so kind of you, I really appreciate that.
Such cosy vibes in this post! After reading this I'm so ready to get out some orange and brown yarn and dust off the needles I haven't used since January! 🍂 🧡 🧶 🤎 🍂
I fully support dusting off those needles for a new cast on, Nanette! ☺️ Do you have a favorite item to knit? I should not start anything new right now (too many other projects going on!) but I’m feeling the call to cast on a new pair of socks. 🧡
